New Oak Ridges Library Opening November 12

The City of Richmond Hill is excited to announce that the new Oak Ridges Library is opening to the public on Tuesday, November 12 at 10 a.m.

The two-storey, 19,000 sq ft facility located at 34 Regatta Avenue includes meeting rooms for public and library use, a children’s program room, computer room, Maker Space room, expanded library collection of books and magazines for all ages, study spaces and dedicated areas for children, tweens, teens and adults.

The new Oak Ridges Library is a civic landmark that reflects the natural elements and local history of the community, and its design has been inspired by its surroundings.

An official grand opening event will be planned for early in the new year.

Picking up Materials from the New Oak Ridges Library

The new Oak Ridges Library will open on Tuesday, Nov. 12. As of opening day, customers who have borrowed items from any RHPL location can return items to Oak Ridges Library. Materials may be returned 24/7 through external book bins.

With the new Oak Ridges Library opening, you may wish to change your hold pick up location or adjust the status of your holds. We've put together some handy guides to help optimize your library service during this time.

Step-by-Step Guide: Resuming Holds after Suspension

1) Visit our website at https://www.rhpl.ca/.

2) Click on the 'My Account' button.

3) Enter in your library card number and PIN to access your 'My Account' portal.

4) Ensure you've selected the 'Holds' tab.

5) Click the 'Select All' checkbox if you wish to resume all holds, or manually select the holds you wish to resume by clicking the checkboxes next to their titles.

6) When the 'Select All' checkbox is ticked / individual checkboxes are ticked, click on the 'Cancel Hold Suspension(s)' button.

7) When prompted, select "Yes" to cancel Suspensions of the Selected Holds. 

Note: The new Oak Ridges Library will be open as of Tuesday Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. Once your holds are available at this location, you will receive an email notification from RHPL. Your item will not be available until you are notified via email.

Step-by-Step Guide: Changing Holds Pickup Location

Once your item is available, holds may be picked up from the new Oak Ridges Library starting Tuesday November 12. Once an item is available for pick up, we'll send an email letting you know. 

1) Visit our website at https://www.rhpl.ca/.

2) Click on the 'My Account' button.

3) Enter in your library card number and PIN to access your 'My Account' portal.

4) Ensure you've selected the 'Holds' tab.

5) Click the 'Select All' checkbox if you wish to change the location of all holds.

6) When the 'Select All' checkbox is ticked / individual checkboxes are ticked, click on the 'Edit Pickup Location(s)' button.

7) When prompted, click on the dropdown menu beside each title to select the new Oak Ridges Library.

8) After you've selected your new pickup location for each title, click on the 'Change' button.

9) After you've clicked the 'Change' button, the status of your request to edit your pickup location(s) will be displayed underneath the 'Action' column. To exit this pop-up, click 'OK'.

10) Your new pickup location will be displayed underneath the 'Pickup at' column.
