Fines for Overdue Material
Overdue fines are charged for any material that is not returned on or before the due date. Fines were established as an incentive for prompt return of materials so that they will be available for others to borrow. They begin accruing the day after the item is due.
Items continue to accrue fines until they are returned, renewed or marked as lost. You cannot pay for items that are still outstanding and accruing fines. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that all materials are returned on time.
As a courtesy, the Library offers email notification to customers regarding materials coming due. Customers are responsible for returning materials on the due date whether or not email notification has been received.
Renewals can be made by phone at 905-770-4291 or online through the My Account portal. Items with holds cannot be renewed.
Fines are assessed on the basis of the material type.
Fines or overdue charges are applicable to all circulating materials as follows:
|Material Type||Loan Period||Renewals||Daily Fine
|Adult Materials||3 weeks||10||$0.30||$5.00|
|Children's Materials||3 weeks||10||$0.25||$5.00|
