Returns and Renewals
SERVICE UPDATE: Due to COVID-19, all returned items must be returned through external drop boxes. Items are quarantined for a minimum of 24 hours before they are removed from a customer's record and returned to our shelves. As a result, returned items may remain on your account for some time after they are returned.
Our materials can be returned to any Richmond Hill Public Library branch (Central, Oak Ridges, Richmond Green and Richvale). They can be returned inside the library during staffed hours, or outside 24/7 through external drop boxes.
It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that all materials are returned on time and in good condition.
If you wish to keep material longer, you can renew materials through our automated service at 905-770-4291, or by calling the Library at 905-884-9288. You can also login to My Account to renew items. In the interest of fairness, items with holds cannot be renewed.
Most items may be renewed ten (10) times.
The following items can only be renewed two (2) times:
- Children’s DVDs
- Music CDs
- Video games
The following items cannot be renewed:
- DVDs – theatrical/feature films
- Book Express books
- Materials with holds
- STEAM kits
