May is Asian Heritage Month, an annual celebration dedicated to recognizing and honouring the diverse cultures, traditions, and contributions of people of Asian descent. Visit RHPL branches to explore featured displays and collections that recognize and celebrate Asian cultures in our community. Celebrate Asian Heritage Month by making decorative origami with Origami Canada.

May 24: Let's Draw Anime! (9–12 yrs) 
Learn more about the creative style that has taken the world by storm, and take your drawings to a new level in this Anime and Manga art class. (Registration required.)

Virtual Classroom Visit with Author Howard Wong

Howard Wong Asian Heritage Month

Attention teachers! On Tuesday, May 6, don't miss this exciting virtual author event for Grade 4-8. In honour of Asian Heritage Month, local comic creator Howard Wong presents tips and tricks on how to create an Asian superhero. He talks about comic creation, key building blocks, visual design, and the changing stereotypes throughout the decades. 

Howard Wong is a Joe Shuster Award-nominated comic book writer. He lives in Toronto with his wife, kids and two dogs.
