Enter to Win! Design a Bookmark Contest

Design a bookmark for our contest! Use your imagination to draw or colour something you love to do at the library. Your artwork could be selected to win a prize and your bookmark may be printed and featured for everyone to see at our branches. Kids ages up to 13 years are invited to participate. Get inspo from past winners in the banner. Contest runs from February 17 until April 30, 2026.

How to Enter

  • Pick up the "Design a Bookmark" contest printable at the service desk from your local branch.

  • Create your own bookmark design in the blank space provided that describes what you love about the library. Use as many colours and materials as you like. Note: You can also download and print the contest form online.

  • Submit your bookmark design by April 30, 2026 to the first floor service desk at any RHPL branch.

  • Limit of one entry per person.

Contest Rules

Eligibility

  • Participants must be 13 years of age or younger.

  • You must live or go to school in Richmond Hill or be a registered RHPL member.

  • All entries must be the original creation of the participant (we cannot accept tracings, copied designs or licensed characters).

  • Parental permission is required for all entrants aged 13 and under.

Judging

  • Entries will be judged by a panel of RHPL staff.

  • Winners will be selected from the following age categories: Up to 6 years, 7 to 9 years, and 10 to 13 years.

  • Entries will be judged based on theme, originality, and design.

Prizes

  • Each winner will receive a swag bag and special prize. Each winner will also receive 10 copies of their winning bookmark and an opportunity to be featured in library promotional material.  

  • Winners will be notified by email. 

  • Winning designs will be printed on bookmarks, distributed throughout the RHPL system, and featured on the RHPL website. 

  • Prizes must be collected at an RHPL branch selected by the winner.

General Terms and Conditions

  • By entering the contest, you agree to be bound by the contest rules and release RHPL from any liability related to the contest or its prizes.

  • By entering the contest, you grant RHPL permission to post your artwork on social media, in print, and on electronic media. RHPL reserves the right to alter or modify submitted artwork for promotional purposes.

  • Participants release ownership rights of their artwork to RHPL and agree to have it posted with their first name and age on RHPL’s social, print, and electronic media channels.

  • Submissions will not be sold or distributed for profit, and your contact information will not be shared with third-party companies.
