Using an RHPL Copy Card
What is an RHPL Copy Card?
An RHPL Copy Card allows you to print, scan or photocopy in the Library. After purchasing and loading the card with funds, you’ll be able to use our printing services across RHPL locations and printing devices.
A Copy Card (pink) is not the same as your RHPL card (green).
What do I need to obtain a Copy Card?
You can purchase a Copy Card the main (first floor) desk of each branch, or by using the Copy Card Vending Machine on the third floor of Central Library. No ID or library card is required to purchase the card. You’ll need cash (main desk only), a credit card or a debit card to purchase your Copy Card.
How much does a Copy Card cost?
A Copy Card costs $2 ($1 is immediately returned to you in printing credit on the card).

Can I print without a Copy Card?
A Copy Card is required to print, scan or photocopy at RHPL locations. You won’t be able to use these services without this card.
How do I find my ID number and PIN?
Your ID number and PIN can be found on the back of your Copy Card. The ID number is on the bottom left corner, and the PIN (once revealed) is on the bottom right corner.
How can I load my Copy Card?
Copy Cards can be loaded in person at any RHPL location. Copy Cards can be loaded at Central Library by using our Copy Card Vending Machine or by visiting the main desk on the first floor. Funds are immediately available once added to your card.
Copy Card Vending Machines currently accept credit cards (VISA, Mastercard), debit, Apple Pay and Android Pay.
Note: When you use the vending machine, you may notice a default $20 charge on your card. This amount will be adjusted in the following 1-2 business days to reflect the actual amount you loaded onto your card.
Why should I register my card?
You must speak to a staff member to register your card. Registering your card links your name and email address to your Copy Card, and has the following benefits:
- Activates the ability to send scanned pages to your email
- Assists with recovering funds if your card is lost or stolen
- Allows us to contact you if your lost card is found
What do I do if I lost my Copy Card?
Lost cards funds can only be recovered if they are registered to your email address and full legal name. Speak to a staff person about registering your card. If your card is not registered, funds cannot be recovered if your card is misplaced. The cost to replace a Copy Card is $2 (see cost details above).

What is the maximum balance I can load on my Copy Card?
The maximum amount that can be loaded onto a Copy Card is $40.
What happens to unused balances on my Copy Card?
Unused balances remain on the card and cannot be transferred off or refunded. They do not expire.
Is there a refund policy for cards and unused balances?
No unused balances will be refunded. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
