The library's pride collections highlight books with LGBTQ+ themes and help to raise awareness for equality, diversity, and inclusivity. It also includes a collection in honour Disability Pride Month (July) for persons who experience disability, their identities and culture, and their valuable and positive contributions to society.
Upcoming Programs and Events
June 11: Challenging Queer Disinformation
Join pflag to learn about the resurgence of transphobic and other anti-LGBTQ2+ rhetoric and policy-making across the country. The workshop will also challenge how we confront sources of disinformation and consume news content today.
June 12: Kyne from Canada's Drag Race: Virtual Author Talk
Kyne, local Ontario drag queen, contestant from season 1 of Canada's Drag Race, math diva, TikTok star, and now author, will be joining us live over Zoom for an exciting author talk about her new book, "Math in Drag."
June 24: June Film Club: Midnight Cowboy
Join our monthly film club to chat about top-rated features with film enthusiasts as we continue revisiting classics. Watch a film on our digital resource Kanopy, then participate in an online discussion. In honour of Pride Month, watch Midnight Cowboy (1969) from director John Schlesinger.
June 29: Dragtime Storytime and Rainbow Crafts
Celebrate what makes you special by joining local drag queen Gila Münster for stories and songs about inclusivity and self-love. There will be rainbow crafts following the storytime.
